JW Dentistry!
Dr. Joon Woo Sohn was born and raised in Korea before moving to the United States at the age of 17. He spent his formative years in Ventura County, California, where he later earned his degree from California State University, Channel Islands. With a passion for dentistry, Dr. Sohn worked as a dental assistant for three years before pursuing his dental education at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health in Mesa.
Upon graduation, he began his dental career in Austin, Texas, where he also had the joy of getting engaged to his best friend, Carissa. Eventually, Dr. Sohn made the decision to return to Southern California to be closer to family and start one of his own.
In his free time, he enjoys hiking with his dog, Dash, staying active at the gym, and cheering on his favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Joon Woo Sohn to La Mirada and to our dental practice! As I move towards retirement, I couldn’t be more confident in Dr. Sohn’s philosophy of providing the same comfortable, personalized, and high-quality dental care that you’ve always come to expect when visiting our office. When I first met Dr. Sohn, I was extremely impressed with his professionalism, good nature, and passion for dentistry. I know you will find that Dr. Sohn is committed to providing high level dentistry by bringing his diverse and enhanced clinical skill set including advanced training in extractions, root canals, and implants.
On the personal side, Dr. Sohn and his fiancé, Carissa, moved back to southern California last year after spending time in Arizona and Texas for the last few years. Both grew up in southern California and are happy to be close to their families and friends. Dr. Sohn enjoys hiking with his dog and is a big Lakers fan.
As I retire after 44 satisfying years of practicing dentistry, I reflect on the generations of wonderful patients to whom I’ve had the privilege and pleasure to serve. I’m forever grateful for your trust, friendship, and loyalty. Please welcome Dr. Sohn to our dental practice.
